Looking for something different from open sandwiches for a party or New Year's Eve celebration? Try these easy canapés with a ham roll filled with fresh cheese, butter and chives. Roll it in foil, leave it to set in the fridge, then slice it into rounds. Top pieces of bread with the ham roll slices and garnish with pepper and basil.
Mix the fresh cheese, softened butter and chopped fresh chives with salt and pepper until well combined.
Lay a sheet of foil on the table and arrange the ham slices on it so that they form one large sheet of ham. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the ham and use the foil to roll it into a thin roll.
Secure with the foil, twist the ends and leave to set in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
Cut the bread roll into rounds about 1 cm thick. Unwrap the chilled ham roll from the foil and cut it into rounds about 1 cm thick as well.
Top each round of bread with a slice of the ham roll and garnish with a small piece of the remaining filling, a strip of orange pepper and a small basil leaf.
