Devilled toasts are a fiery appetiser that really wakes up your taste buds. Minced beef with curry, chillies and cheese is baked on bread until crisp. These wonderfully hot toasts will make you thirsty, so stock up before you sit down.
Heat the oil and soften the onion, then add the paprika, curry powder and crushed cumin.
Stir quickly so the paprika does not burn, then add the minced beef. Fry it, pour in the stock and simmer for twenty minutes.
Add the nuts, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, chopped chillies and finely grated potatoes. Simmer for about five minutes more.
Season the mixture with salt, pepper and some of the thyme. Spread it on the bread, sprinkle with cheese and the remaining thyme, and bake in the oven until the cheese melts.
