Pracny (Czech Walnut Christmas Cookies)

Walnut pracny are one of the oldest kinds of Czech Christmas cookies, baked by our great-grandmothers. The butter dough with ground walnuts and cocoa, flavoured with cinnamon and cloves, is simply pressed into moulds and baked briefly. The finished cookies are rolled in icing sugar mixed with vanilla sugar and left to mature for three weeks.
