Easter Yeast Dough Bunny with Chicks

Easter is not only about fresh green colours – a bunny and all kinds of baby animals belong to it too! Here is a recipe for a yeast dough that you can shape however you like. Once baked, the figures just need a brush of jam and a few raisins.

Method

01.

Mix the flour with a pinch of salt and the dried yeast, then add the sugar, milk, softened butter, eggs and vanilla sugar. Stir everything together and work into a smooth, supple dough, then leave it covered to rise for about 30 minutes.

02.

Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Take about 1/3 of the dough for the bunny – shape a small ball for the head and one larger ball for the body. Make the ears, paws and tail from the rest of the dough. Divide the remaining 2/3 of the dough into 10 pieces and shape them into chicks, adding little wings to each one.

03.

Leave the figures to rise briefly on a baking tray, then bake them for about 25 minutes in the preheated oven.

04.

Brush the baked Easter yeast bunny and chicks with warmed jam and decorate with raisins and chocolate, though this is not strictly necessary.
