These fried ham rolls filled with Niva blue cheese and coated in breadcrumbs make a great hot appetiser. Serve them with a selection of cold herby sauces, or simply with mashed potatoes. You can make eight of them in half an hour.
On a work surface, lay out eight slices of cooked ham and place one more slice on each so that the edges overlap. This gives you a large rectangle of ham.
Cut eight fingers of Niva cheese. Place one finger of cheese on one edge of each rectangle, roll the ham up into a roll, secure it well with a cocktail stick and coat it in the flour, egg and breadcrumbs.
Fry the rolls in hot oil on all sides and remove the cocktail sticks before serving.
Sprinkle the fried ham rolls with chopped chives. Serve them with mashed potatoes or other potatoes.
