Arabic cuisine is still fairly exotic in our part of the world, yet its dishes are becoming more and more popular. It also has its own typical desserts, which differ greatly from ours – not least because of the different climate. One of the favourite sweet treats is kadayif, a nut dessert made from a special pastry similar to filo, though instead of sheets it consists of very thin strands. These are shaped into sweet rolls filled with nuts and soaked in sugar syrup.
