Would you like your dessert to look just as good after being carried in a box as it did on the table? A small change is all it takes to enjoy your favourite cake in all its beauty. These luxurious chocolate triangles delight with quark cream and chocolate topping.
For the base: Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar, whisk the egg whites until stiff, and mix the dry ingredients.
Making the batter: Add the oil, milk and egg whites to the whisked yolks. Mix carefully but thoroughly, gradually adding the dry mixture. Pour the batter onto a baking tray lined with baking paper, or onto a greased and floured tray. Bake for 25-30 minutes.
Making the cream: Meanwhile, prepare the cream. Melt the butter in a small saucepan and leave to cool. Tip both blocks of quark into a bowl, add the sugar, pudding powder and the cooled melted butter. Whisk with a hand mixer until creamy. Spread the cream over the baked base.
Making the topping: Melt the chocolate and butter in a bain-marie, stir in the cream and pour over the cream on the base. Chill for at least 1 hour.
Cutting and serving: Cut the chilled cake into triangles. The topping is semi-soft, but it is better to cut it with a knife heated in warm water, and you will get nice straight slices.
