Wondering how to pack a cake or dessert into a box so that it still looks as nice when you take it out as it did when you put it in? A small change is all it takes, and you can enjoy your favourite bake in all its beauty.
Making the dough: Mix all the dough ingredients together by hand in a bowl. If the dough will not come together, add a little more wine. Put the finished dough in the fridge for a while while you prepare the apple filling.
Making the filling: Peel the apples and grate them, keeping the juice. Mix the grated apples with the pudding powder, sugar and a pinch of cinnamon.
Preparing the tin: Grease a 25x35 cm tin. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
Rolling out the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and divide it into two equal parts. Roll out one half to the size of the tin and use the rolling pin to transfer it to the greased tin so that the dough is slightly raised up around the edges.
Adding the filling: Spoon the apple filling onto the dough and smooth it with the back of a spoon or a spatula.
Covering the filling: Roll out the second piece of dough, transfer it with the rolling pin and place it on the apples. Trim off the overhanging dough around the edges. Prick the top of the pie with a fork and bake.
Baking: Bake for 30 minutes, then check. Bake until golden brown. Leave the pie to cool completely and then cut it. Finally, you can dust it with icing sugar.
