Peasant-Style Braised Chicken with Onions and Carrots

Peasant-style braised chicken is a simple, quick and very cheap dish that even a beginner can manage. The chicken is braised until tender with onion and carrot and fills the whole kitchen with its aroma. Serve it with dumplings, bread dumplings or simply boiled potatoes.

Method

Peel the garlic and press it.

Clean the chicken and cut it into 8 pieces. Season with salt and pepper and rub with the garlic.

Peel the onions and carrots and slice them into rounds. Wash and chop the parsley.

Heat the butter and oil in a casserole dish and fry the chicken pieces on all sides until golden brown.

Add the onion, carrot and parsley and fry lightly. Pour in the stock, season with salt and pepper, cover with a lid and braise until tender.

06.

Serve the cooked chicken pieces with boiled potatoes and spoon the braising juices over.
